Greencare make special chairs to meet special needs. Comfort, it's top of our list, and probably yours too. If your chair doesn't fit well, it is unlikely to be comfortable, especially if you are going to be sitting in it for several hours of the day.

There are a number of important measurements needed when ordering a wheelchair, some are:

• The width of the hips
• The length of the upper leg
• The height of the seat from the ground (to make transferring from a bed or toilet easier for example)
• Length of lower leg
• Angle of seat and backrest
• Height of armrests

And other considerations too

• Whether the chair is to be occupant propelled or pushed by a carer
• If it needs to fit through tight doorways or spaces
• If it is going to be used in a vehicle
• If the users needs are likely to change

Because we take measurements seriously we rely on chairs being specified by trained prescribers, that’s why most of this site is for the use of NHS professionals.
